𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗦 | MLBB: Team Liquid PH Asserts Control, Dispatching Aurora Gaming in M7 Opener
Team Liquid PH kicked off its M7 World Championship Swiss Stage campaign with a commanding 14–3 victory over fellow Philippine squad Aurora Gaming PH on Saturday, January 10, at the MPL Arena XO Hall in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Liquid asserted control from the start, systematically dismantling Aurora’s defenses and finishing the match with a 14–3 kill advantage.
The victory highlighted Team Liquid’s disciplined rotations and superior map awareness, which limited Aurora’s opportunities to mount counterattacks.
The game’s momentum swung decisively in Liquid’s favor under the ten-minute mark. Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno on Yi Sun-shin picked off Edward Dapdap’s Uranus during a skirmish, secured the Turtle, and finished the sequence with a solo kill on Kenneth “Yue” Tadeo’s Yve under the mid-lane turret, establishing a commanding presence across the battlefield.
Aurora attempted to fight back during the Lord engagement, but a coordinated gank by Team Liquid eliminated four of their players, leaving only Uranus standing. Despite the setbacks, Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto’s Fredrinn managed to secure the Lord for Aurora, keeping them in the game.
Around the 12-minute mark, Alston “Sanji” Pabico’s Lou Yi executed a daring rotation, teleporting from the top lane to the bottom lane to intercept Aurora’s Lord.
Dylan “Light” Catipon’s Chou positioned himself aggressively, diving onto Yi Sun-shin to disrupt Team Liquid’s push, but with timely support from his teammates, Yi Sun-shin weathered the assault and turned the tide, eliminating Chou and reclaiming control for Liquid.
Aurora’s resistance faltered as KarlTzy launched a decisive late-game surge, securing a double kill on Uranus and Fredrinn and capturing another Lord, extending Team Liquid’s lead to 11–3.
The final assault showcased Team Liquid’s coordination and execution. With three turrets still intact for Aurora, Sanji’s Lou Yi teleported into the enemy base, applying pressure and forcing Chou to flicker back after narrowly avoiding elimination.
Capitalizing on the opening, Sanford Vinuya’s Alice led the mid-lane push, using her ultimate to engage and control the fight. KarlTzy struck again, taking down Jan “Domengkite” Delmundo’s Karrie and Chou, while Kiel “Oheb” Soriano’s Claude eliminated Fredrinn, leaving Aurora scrambling to defend.
With just two Aurora Gaming PH players left standing, their defenses crumbled under relentless pressure, allowing Team Liquid to close out the match decisively.
Sanji earned MVP honors for his performance on Lou Yi, finishing with a perfect 2-0-9 KDA.
The victory propels Team Liquid PH into the upper bracket of Stage 2, where they will face Team Falcons of Saudi Arabia on Sunday, January 11.
